A comparison of several popular diets by ARS-funded researchers showed that at the end of the day, or in this case at the end of the year, sticking with a diet - more than the type of a diet - is the key to losing weight.
Following a fad, or popular diet has been proven now that people lose the weight temporarily and then put it back on faster than it came off. This possibility we will naturally ignore, and therefore you will find no such diets on this page (in case you have been wondering why the diet that the Jones’s are following is not listed here). So, what is the best diet plan?
Take the time and effort to search the internet for free information yourself (which I have done, and found to be overwhelming - I can totally understand the confusion that this brings - and that is the reason for my websites). On the basis of your findings, you then decide on an action plan:
- You can go for it on your own, if you feel that your knowledge is such that you can put together a solid nutrition and exercise strategy.
- Join a diet membership, and pay approximately $20 per month to get expert support, online tools and a community of fellow dieters with who to communicate - this could help many people to stay focused, and motivated.
- Find a book (based on your research), written by an expert who you feel caters for you as an individual, who will take into consideration your particular body type and food preferences. In other words, you will educate yourself on eating right for fat loss, based on your individuality, and not on what works for others.
This last sentence is the basis for any successful weight loss program. You must find a strategy that you can stick to for life. To speak of “lifestyle change” sounds a bit dramatic, but that is what it boils down to, and shouldn’t be too difficult - if you know what you’re doing.
The strategy that you choose will depend on various factors, including how fast you want to lose the weight, your age, your gender, and other determining factors such as your reasons for being overweight - whether it be overeating or the fact that you have just had a baby.
